Sun Life is improving disability management for better employee outcomes
Effective disability management is essential. When we get this process right, it helps employees to recover more quickly from illness and injury. They can return to regular activities of daily living in a timely manner and tend to have better long-term outcomes both physically and mentally. In 2020 and 2021, mental health disorders were the fastest growing claim type and the leading cause of workplace disability. This trend is expected to continue into 2022, and Sun Life Insurance has evolved its claims process to address this. To help employees quickly and effectively, Sun Life has introduced a mental health coach pilot program. This program provides timely and proactive support to plan members that are at high risk. Sun Life has also improved the disability claims process by adding another layer of assessment that analyzes psychosocial factors to ensure your employees get the right level of support at the onset of their claim. Both these pilot programs can help to offset the added costs and complexity of mental health disorder claims.
TuGo is providing medical advice to travellers that need it
TuGo travel insurance recently announced a new service called TuGo Telemedicine. Touted as Convenient Care AnywhereTM, this service is available to plan members travelling within the United States. If a traveller is feeling unwell or needs other medical advice, they can call a dedicated 1-800 number any time of day. They are connected with an experienced board-certified physician who will recommend a treatment plan or prescribe medication. Travellers can access this care from the comfort of wherever they are staying, and it can help prevent unnecessary and stressful trips to an emergency room or urgent care clinic.
RBC is offering better chronic pain management solutions
RBC Insurance has rolled out its improved Chronic Pain Solutions Program (CPSP). It is based on best practices and client feedback. The CPSP includes multi-disciplinary treatment from a variety of providers, including
Each program is customized to individual plan members and considers their medical history, job duties, and other personal circumstances. Services are delivered both virtually and in person. Participants in CPSP report that it has been helpful, supportive, effective, and encouraging.
